Low in sugar, full of healthy nutrients but most importantly delicious and chocolatey that you would NEVER guess it is made up of avocados.
This all started when i had some avocado's that needed using up and i remember seeing recipes for avocado brownies and mousse online. I didn't really have many ingredients in the house, but did have some hot chocolate powder (Cadbury's highlights - so also low cal) and a bar of lindt chocolate!
This is definitely a new favourite, so so easy to make. You can also impress your 'healthy' friends with this one, asking them to guess what is in it - they will be shocked.
Nutrition (per pot)
179 calories | 3 g protein | 15 g carbs |
2 ripe avocados
30 g cocoa powder - i used hot chocolate powder and it worked fine.
50 g melted chocolate or chocolate chips.
3-4 tbsp any milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Here you also have the option of making it richer and lower sugar with dark cocoa and dark chocolate or more milky with regular chocolate powder and chocolate like i did! Next time i will definitely make it darker and richer.
Peel and chop the avocado
Melt the chocolate over a saucepan of boiling water, keep stirring until smooth
Add all the ingredients into a bowl and mix together with an electric mixer or whisk until smooth. Add more milk if needed but be careful about adding too much.
Taste it to check it is sweet enough for you - you can always add sweetner here (maple syrup, more vanilla essence, stevia drops would work well)
Pour into serving dishes, this amount made a good 4 servings but you could make more smaller servings or less larger deserts.
Place them in the fridge to cool for at least an hour before eating. They keep well in the fridge for upto 2 days.
You can get creative with the toppings, i added shredded coconut and a bit of maple syrup before serving, but they were also delicious just plain chocolate!!
